The United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) has decided today to deny Micron Technology's (Micron) request for rehearing in the matter of Inter Partes Review (IPR) IPR2023-00105.

In its decision, the PTAB concluded that the "Petitioner has not demonstrated that we abused our discretion or that we misapprehended or overlooked any matter in our Decision Denying Institution of inter partes review. Petitioner, therefore, has not carried its burden of demonstrating that the Decision Denying Institution should be modified."

Previously, the PTAB has denied the institution of Micron Technology's (Micron) Inter Partes Review (IPR) IPR2023-00105 on June 14, 2023. Micron Technology, Inc. is an American producer of computer memory and computer data storage including dynamic random-access memory, flash memory, and USB flash drives. It is headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Micron has filed the IPR seeking to invalidate US Patent 6,731,013 B2. The patent relates to state-of-the-art stacking of microchips.

Katana Silicon Technologies (KST) is a Longhorn IP affiliate. Previously, KST has acquired several portfolios of patents from a plurality of world-leading semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics, Toshiba, UMC and Sharp.
